ISO 14001
What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is an international standard that sets out requirements for an Environmental Management System (EMS). It helps organizations improve their environmental performance.
ISO 14001 is suitable for all types of organizations, it aides a business to identify, manage, control, monitor/ assess environmental aspects and impacts. In 2015, ISO 14001 was revised to include risk based thinking. As with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 also follows the High Level Structure and does not require documented procedures but in turn requires the organization to determine the extent processes are needed in order to provide confidence that it is controlled to achieve the desired results. Implementing an EMS points you in the direction of reduce, recycle, re-use and recover, it assists an organization in reducing its carbon foot print and makes interested parties aware of the organizations commitment to the environment.
